The University College of Management Studies (UCOMS) began in1974 as a Professional Tutorial College called Feds Career College. Feds Career College identified critical skill gaps in the labour market and dedicated itself to the preparation of supervisory level professionals in Accountancy, Marketing, Export Marketing, Sales Management, Advertising, Public Relations, and Journalism. These Programmes were heavily subscribed and products of the College gained employment in reputable national and international organizations.
On 1st June, 1977, the name of the College was changed to Institute of Management Studies (IMS) when it became a recognized Tutorial College for the preparation of students for Professional Qualifications in the United Kingdom in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), Accounting from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and Purchasing and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
IMS was accredited by the National Accreditation Board as a Tertiary Tutorial College in 1998 and in 2206 the status of IMS was changed by incorporation to the current University College of Management Studies (UCOMS). UCOMS began offering Degree Programmes in Business Administration with specializations in Accounting, Banking and Finance, Human Resource Management, Marketing and Procurement and Supply Chain Management. The College in addition to Business Administration Programmes now offers Programmes under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Governance, Health Services and Education.
UCOMS is the Oldest Private University in Ghana offering Top Quality Management Programmes and we hold that reputation dear to us.
