The Ghana Armed Forces is the unified armed force of Ghana, consisting of the Army, Navy, and Ghana Air Force. The GAF are supervised by the Ghanaian Ministry of Defense.

General Eligibility for Recruitment into Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Application

Eligible applicant should:

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Not be less than 20 years and not more than 26 years by 06 June, 2021 for Regular Commission and not more than the specified years by 02 May 2021, for the respective Short Service Commission applicants.
  4. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces standard.
  5. Be not bonded.
  6. Be not married (for Regular Officer Candidates only).
  7. Be of minimum height of 1.68m (5’6’’) for males and 1.60m (5’ 4”) for females.

For Military Police only; the minimum height for male applicants should be 1.75m (5’9”) and 1.70m (5’ 7”) for females.

Must have the following:

BECE.  Must have Six (6) Passes including English and Mathematics.

 WASSCE.  Must have Six (6) Credits (Not less than C6) including Core English and Core Mathematics.

                                                                        Or

  •  SSSCE.  Must have Six (6) Credits (Not less than D) including Core English and Mathematics.

                                                                        Or

  •  GCE ‘O’ Level.  Must have Five (5) Credits(Not less than 6) including English and Mathematics.

                                                                       And

  •  GCE ‘A’ Level.  Must have Credits in all Three (3) subjects (Not less than D) and General Paper

DEGREE.  Must have First Degree (Not below) Second Class Lower from a recognised University

REGULAR COMMISSION FOR OFFICER CADET

Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Application 2021/2022 For ARMY Opportuinities

Infantry/Armour/Artillery.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a first Degree from a recognized University.

Signal Corps.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a first Degree from a recognized University in any of the following:

(1)       Telecommunication Engineering.

(2)       Computer Engineering.

(3)       Physics.

Engineer Corps   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a first Degree from a recognized University in any of the following:

(1)       Civil Engineering (Structural or Water/Sanitation Engineer).

(2)       Electrical Engineering.

(3)       Mechanical Engineer with Building Service Capability.

(4)       Building Technology.

(5)       Preference will be given to applicants with additional certificates in tele, mobile, satellite and wireless communication.

Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME Corps).   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Physics.

(2)       Mechanical Engineering.

(3)       Chemical Engineering.

(4)       Electrical Engineering.

(5)       Electronics Engineering.

(6)       Material Engineering.

(7)       Bio-Medical Engineering Technology.

(8)       Agricultural Engineering.

Military Police.      In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Social Sciences – (History, Geography, Sociology, Psychology, Economics).

(2)       Pure Sciences – (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics).

(3)       Arts.

(4)       Administration.

Ordnance Service.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Chemical Engineering.

(2)       Chemistry.

(3)       Physics.

Supply and Transport Corps.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Supply Chain Management.

(3)       Purchasing and Supply.

(5)       Administration.

Forces Pay Corps.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Accounting.

(2)       ACCA Part II or Higher.

(3)       ICA Part II or Higher.

(4)       CIMA Part II or Higher.

(5)       ICA (GH) Part II or Higher.

Information Technology.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Computer Science.

(2)       Computer Engineering.

(3)       Information Technology.

(4)       Computer Security.

(5)       Network Engineering.

(6)       Preference would be given to applicants with in-depth knowledge in Website Designing (CMS’s, PHP, HTML, CSS), SQL and My SQL, CCNA, ORACLE, LINUX, VISUAL BASIC, Network Administration, Ethical Hacking or Computer Forensic.

Education Corps.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Humanities (Arts & Social Sciences).

(2)       Pure Science.

(3)       Education.

(4)       English/French.

Public Relations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have Bachelor’s Degree (BA, BFA, BSc, etc.) in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution, plus one (1) year working experience:

(1)       Film Sound Production.

(2)       Film Directing.

(3)       Television Production.

(4)       Broadcast Journalism.

Physical Training (PT) and Sports.  In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Physical Education.

(2)       Health/Physical Education and Recreation.

Band.

In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a first Degree in Music from a recognized University.  Knowledge in the following is an advantage:

(1)       Staff – Reading.

(2)       Conducting.

(3)       Orchestrating.

(4)       Brass and Wind Instruments.

NAVY

Technical BranchIn addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University/Institution:

(1)     Marine Engineering.

(2)     Mechanical Engineering.

(3)     Electrical Engineering.

(4)     Marine Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

Supply and Secretarial BranchIn addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Administration (HR/Accounting/Marketing/Banking & Fin).

(2)       Commerce.

(3)       Port and Shipment Administration.

(4)       Management Studies.

(5)       Procurement and Supply Chain Management.

(6)       Economics.

(7)       Preference will be given to applicants with the additional certificates in the following;

(a)       Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administration (ICSA) – Final Part.

(b)       Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) – Level 5.

(c)       Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) – Final Part.

Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Application 2021/2022 For AIR FORCE Opportunities

Air Crew. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science, Aeronautical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Private/Commercial/Air Transport Pilot License or any other Pilot cert from a recognized University.

ATC Operations. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geography, Statistics, Computer Science and Environmental Science.

Supply Branch. In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in the following:

(1)       Administration (Finance, Accounting and Marketing).

(2)       Economics.

(3)       Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) – Final Part.

(4)       Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport – Final Part.

(5)       Supply Chain Management.

(6)       Commerce.

Administration Branch. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree in any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent professional institution in any of the following:

(1)       Administration. (HR/Accts/Banking & Finance).

(2)       Arts or Social Science.

(3)       Management Studies.

(4)       Institute of Chartered Secretaries & Administration (ICSA) – Final part.

Engineering Branch.

(1)       Mechanical.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University in the following:

(a)       Aerospace Engineering.

(b)       Mechanical Engineering.

(c)       Aeronautical Engineering.

(d)       Agricultural Engineering.

(2)       Avionics.    In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a Degree from a recognized University in the following:

(a)       Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

(b)       Computer Engineering.

(c)       Tele Communication Engineering.

SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION REQUIREMENTS (ARMY/AIR FORCE CANDIDATES ONLY)

ENGINEER CORPS.

Architecture. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have a First Degree from a recognized University/Institution in Architecture, be a Registered member of Ghana Institute of Architects and must not be more than thirty-five (35) years of age by 02 May 2021.

Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (EME Corps).   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years by 02 May 2021 and must have a First Degree and Masters Degree/Post Graduate Diploma from a recognized University/Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Agricultural Engineering.

(2)       Material Engineering.

(3)       BTech(Automobile).

(4)       Electrical Engineering.

(5)       Electronics Engineering.

(6)       Mechanical Engineering.

Legal.   In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must not be more than 30 years by 02 May 2021 and must have a First Degree from a recognized University or Professional Institution in any of the following:

(1)       Bachelor of Law, LLB.

(2)       Barrister at Law(BL) Certificate.

(3)       Must have done Pupilage and 3 years Post Call working experience.

MEDICAL. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must have any of the following from a recognized University or equivalent Professional Institution:

  1. Medical Specialist. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution plus a relevant post-graduate qualification to the level of Membership/Fellowship (GCPS/WACS/WACP or its equivalent from an accredited College. Dental Specialist from the following categories: Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, periodontist, Dental Restorative Specialist, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist, Oral Medicine Specialist, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiologist, and Prothodentist are eligible. Specialist Anaesthesiologist are also encouraged to apply. All must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more than 40 years of age by 02 May 2021.
  2. Medical officer & Dental Surgeon. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MB ChB/BDS or its equivalent from an accredited institution. Must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council. At least one (1) year working experience after housemanship in a recognized health facility and not more than 35 years of age by 02 May 2021.
  3. Midwifery Officer.In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution. Must have completed the mandatory clinical rotation. At least two (2) years working experience is required and not more than 33 years of age by 02 May 2021. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana.
  4. Physician Assistant (Medical).   Applicant must have BSc degree in Physician Assistantship or its equivalent from an accredited institution with at least three (3) years working experience after housemanship in an accredited health facility. Must have permanent registration with the Ghana Medical and Dental Council and not more than 33 years of age by 02 May 2021.
  5. Audiologist. Applicant must have an MSc degree in Audiology or its equivalent. At least one (1) year working experience as an audiologist. Must be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council and not more than 33 years of age by 02 May 2021.
  6. Specialized Nurses. In addition to the general eligibility, applicants must be a Registered General Nurse and have Certificate in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-operative, Emergency Care, Plastic & Burns and Pediatrics Nursing. At least two (2) years working experience in a recognized health facility is required. Must have registered with the Nurses and Midwives council of Ghana and not more than 33 years of age by 02 May 2021.
  7. Nursing Tutor. In addition to the general eligibility, applicant must have MPhil in Nursing/Midwifery or MSc/MA in Nursing/Midwifery with postgraduate certificate in Education. Must be registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Ghana. At least one (1) year teaching experience in an accredited Nursing/Midwifery institution is required and not more than 35 years of age by 02 May 2021.

Chaplains (ARMY/NAVY/AIRFORCE). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. First Degree(BA) in Theology or Religion from a recognised University? Theological Seminary/College.
  2. An ordained minister of the Methodist, Presbyterian, Evangelical Presbytarian, SDA and the Church of Pentecost and be recommended for commissioning into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of the Church.
  3. A minimum of 4 years pastoral working and probation/internship experience including two(2) years post ordination service in the pastoral service.
  4. He/she must have the ability to speak English fluently and at least one of the main Ghanaian languages.
  5. He/she must not be more than 35 years by 02 May 2021.

Imam (ARMY/NAVY/AIRFORCE). In addition to the general eligibility applicants must have any of the following:

  1. First Degree in Islamic Theology or Religion from a recognised University? Theological Seminary/College.
  2. He must be an Alim Phedeen (Islamic Theologian).
  3. Fluent in spoken Arabic and English languages.
  4. Ability to read and write good Arabic and English languages.
  5. He must have practiced as an Imam for four (4) years, recognized by an Islamic Religious Institution/Body in Ghana.
  6. Must be recommended for commission into the Ghana Armed Forces by the Head of a recognized Islamic body in Ghana.
  7. Must not be more than 35years of age by 02 May 2021.

Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Application 2021/2022 Mode Of Application

Acquire a scratch card at One Hundred GHANA CEDIS (GH¢ 100) from the designated regional post offices.

Scratch gently to reveal the PIN code. The scratch card can be used for three times until a record is successfully submitted.

Read through the entry requirements thoroughly.

Click on the Apply Now tab to open the applicant authentication page.

Enter your card serial number, pin code and select your preferred arm of service, type of commission and click submit.

Enter your personal details and take note of the following from Pages 1 to 3: Page a. Select your desired vacancy and provide all other required data.
b. Upload a scanned copy of your passport sized photograph of dimension (200 x 180 pixels), enter a valid e-mail address, personal mobile phone number in the format (233244123456) and enter any other required data.
c. Enter your WASSCE/SSCE Index number, WASSCE/SSCE results slip serial number and select a tertiary institution from the list of schools. Enter your graduating GPA/CWA and provide all other required data. Upload only scanned copies of the following: WASSCE Results Slip and First Degree Certificate (Degree, HND).

Print and keep a copy of the generated report as you will be required to present it, if you are shortlisted. NB: Each scanned document (Passport picture, WASSCE/SSCE results slip and First Degree Certificate) to be uploaded, should not exceed 1 Megabytes and should be in JPEG picture format only.
