Admission Requirements For UNISA Application 2024/2025
The admission requirements for UNISA University of South Africa vary depending on the program of study and level of study. However, in general, the following are some of the common admission requirements for undergraduate programs at UNISA:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC) with a minimum admission point score (APS) and specific subject requirements.
- National Certificate Vocational (NCV) level 4 with appropriate subject combinations and specific subject requirements.
- Higher Certificate or Diploma qualifications with relevant subject combinations and specific subject requirements.
Some programs may have additional requirements in addition to the ones listed above, such as submitting a portfolio of work, passing a test of aptitude, or finishing an interview.
What are the basic admission requirements for UNISA?
The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi).

A higher certificate requires a minimum APS of 15, a diploma a minimum APS of 18, and a bachelor’s degree a minimum APS of 21 or more (some exceptions apply). It is important to note that you will not automatically be accepted to study through UNISA in semester 1 of 2022.
UNISA Required Document
All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consists of the following:
- Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
- Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
- Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport (international students)
- Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
