Bachelor of Science (BSc.) Information Technology Programme

The aim of the program is to meet the existing and emerging needs of industry by educating new IT workers in current IT principles and practices, and in its applications. The program focuses on equipping graduates with effective skills for interacting at the management level as well as the technical level. It has also been designed to enable graduates fill jobs that focus on the application of IT in an increasing number of emerging sub disciplines, including network administration, information security, information systems, telecommunications, web development, computer graphics, and data management. The Programmes will also provide a gateway into both the Information Technology and Entrepreneurial environments within the community enabling the student to be gainfully employed as an entrepreneur, employee or consultant.

Department of Information Technology

Prospective students who would want admission into the Bachelor of Science (BSc.) in Information Technology must have the following:SSSCE, WASSCE or Equivalent

Prospective students for this programme must have passes in Core English, Core mathematics and Integrated Science/Social Studies plus any three (3) elective passes.
GCE ‘O’ Level Applicants

Applicants must have credit in English Language and Mathematics.Mature Applicants

  • Must be at least twenty-five (25) years old at the time of applying.
  • Must be a holder of Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technician or have credits in three (3) Core subjects (English, Mathematics, and Integrated Science) and three (3) Elective subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics) in SSSCE, WASSCE or Equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE passes or three GCE “O’ level passes including English and Mathematics.
  • Must have three (3) years working experience
  • Must pass an entrance examination and an interview

HND Applicants

  • Must have a minimum of second Class (Lower Division) in Information Technology or its equivalent from an accredited Institution.
  • Applicants will be considered for admission at level 200.
  • Holders of other HND in other fields of study would be considered for Level 100.

Professional Applicants

  • Holders of Professional certificates in Information Technology and related professional fields such as City & Guilds, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCSE etc. will be considered for Level 100.
  • Applicants in this category must
    1. have five (5) credit passes in SSCE/WASSCE including Mathematics, English Language and Integrated Science.
    2. pass a selection interview.

International Applicants

  • WASSCE/SSSCE applicants from West African sub-region must have at least Six (6) credits (A1-C6 in WASSCE and A-D in SSSCE) including English, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science.
  • IGCSE/GCE (Cambridge) – ‘O’ and ‘A’ Levels Applicants must have at least Five (5) passes including English and Mathematics in the IGCSE/IB/Cambridge ‘O’ Level and three relevant subjects at the ‘A’ Levels.

Transfer Applicants

  • Students can only transfer from the same Information Technology Programme from either Public or Private University.
  • Applicant must satisfy the core courses requirements and performance requirements.
  • Applicant must also demonstrate a 2.0 cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
