BARCLAYS BANK GRANTS SCHOLARSHIP TO UENR STUDENTS

The University of Energy and Natural Resources has been privileged among 13 other Universities in Ghana to benefit from a 1.8 million Ghana Cedis full scholarship initiated by the Barclays Africa Group. The scholarship would relief the financial burden of some needy but intelligent students in the University. The Barclays Tertiary Scholarship covered tuition, academic user facility fees, accommodation and all other legitimate fees and dues students are required to pay. In addition, the beneficiary students also received allowance for food, books and general upkeep as well as laptops to facilitate their studies.
As part of its commitment to solve the youth unemployment challenge in Ghana, the bank has also rolled out education and skills programmes such as mentoring, coaching, internship and the Barclays Ready to work initiative for the beneficiaries to help them prepare for the world of work.
Other beneficiary Universities partnered to roll out the scholarship programme included UCC, KNUST, University of Ghana, UPSA, Ghana Technology University, Methodist University, All Nations University, UDS, Presbyterian University, Central University, Catholic University and UMAT. In all 195 students from these universities would benefit from the Bank’s kind gesture.
