GHANA PRISON SERVICE GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR RECRUITS (JUNIOR OFFICERS)

All candidates are to satisfy the following requirements:

1. Must be a Ghanaian citizen by birth with no criminal record.

2. Must possess a first degree from an accredited university and other relevant professional qualification where specified.

3. Must have completed his/her National Service.

4. Must be computer literate.

5. Must be a minimum of age of 21 and not more than 35 by 31st May 2020.

6. Must be physically and medically fit by the Ghana Prisons Service standards

7. Must be of good character, have the ability to work under pressure and difficult environment.

8. Must not be bonded.

9. Must have a minimum height of 1.68 meters (5ft 6inches) for Males and 1.57 meters (5ft 2inches) for Females

11. Be ready to undergo basic Prison Training and other forms of training.

12. Medical professionals must have completed one year post housemanship with a registered hospital or clinic

GHANA PRISON SERVICE GENERAL ELIGIBILITY FOR RECRUITS (CADET GRADUATES)

Applicant must:

a. Be a Ghanaian.

b. Be of good character and without any criminal record.

c. Be physically and medically fit by Ghana Prisons Service standards.

d. Be between 21 and 32 years by 31st May, 2020.

e. Be between 21 and 35 years by 31st May, 2020. (for ARTISANS only)

f. Not have been dismissed from any public service or any other employment.

g. Be of minimum height of 1.68 meters (5ft 6inches) for males and 1.57 meters (5ft 2inches) for females.

In addition to the General eligibility and two(2) years practical working experience an applicant must possess at least a certificate in Horticulture

8. MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNICIANS / ASSISTANTS

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must be registered with the Allied Professions Council and must have completed their mandatory rotation and must posses at least an HND in Medical Laboratory Technology.

9. METAL SMITH AND WEAPON FITTERS (ARMOURERS)

In addition to the General Eligibility, an applicant must possess at least any of the following

a. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in Mechanincal Engineering Technology

b. GES Intermediate Certificate in Welding and Craft Practice

c. GES (COTVET) Certificate II in in Welding and Fabrication

10. NURSE ANESTHETIST

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must have completed his/her mandatory rotation and must posses at least a Diploma in Anaesthetic Nursing.

11. OPHTHALMIC NURSES

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must have completed his/her mandatory rotation and must possess at least a Diploma in Ophthalmic Nursing.

12. ORTHOPEDIC NURSES

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must have completed his/her mandatory rotation and must possess at least a Diploma in Orthopedic Nursing.

13. PERI-OPERATIVE / CRITICAL / INTENSIVE CARE NURSES

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must possess at least a Diploma in Peri-Operative / Critical / Intensive Care Nursing, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must have completed his/her mandatory rotation

14. PLUMBERS AND MASONS

In addition to the General Eligibility, an applicant must possess at least any of the following

a. GES Intermediate Certificate In Plumbing or Masonry

15. PSYCHIATRIC NURSES

In addition to the General eligibility, an applicant must possess at least a Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing, registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and must have completed his/her mandatory rotation

16. REFRIGERATION AND AIR-CONDITIONING TECHNOLOGY

In addition to the General Eligibility, an applicant must possess at least any of the following

a. GES Intermediate Certificate in Refrigeration And Air-Conditioning Technology

b. GES or COTVET Certificate II in Refrigeration And Air-Conditioning Technology

c. CITY And GUILDS (Intermediate) Certificate In Refrigeration And Air-Conditioning Technology

d. NVTI Grade I or TRADE TEST Certificate II in Refrigeration And Air-Conditioning Technology

17. SPORTSMEN / WOMEN

In addition to the General Eligibility (excluding serials d and e), applicants in listed disciplines must be minimum of 18 and not more than 25 years by 31st May, 2020 and must possess at least four(4) passes at SSSCE / WASSCE or BECE plus vocational / trade certificate

Applicants shall undergo practical test in their respective disciplines

18. STENOGRAPHERS

In addition to the General Eligibility, an applicant must possess at least a Stenographer Certificate (COTVET / NVTI) or Stenographer I or II Cetificates (Government Secretarial School)

19. TAILORS, TEXTILES AND DESIGN AND COBBLERS / LEATHER WORK

In addition to the General Eligibility, an applicant must possess at least any of the following:-Advertisements-

In addition to the General eligibility and two(2) years practical working experience an applicant applicant must possess at least one of the following certificates and should be able to repair tractors.

22. WELDING AND FABRICATION

Stages of Ghana Prison Service recruitment process

1. After online application, applicants who meet the initial requirements will be shortlisted and invited to centres of their choice for further processes.

2. At recruitment centres, there should be

a. Body examination and selection

b. Examination and inspection of academic and personal documents

3. Successful candidates in [2] above shall be made to write aptitude test

4. Candidates who pass the aptitude test will go through a thorough criminal and background check.

5. Then there shall be a medical examination for successful applicants.

6. The final stage of the processes is invitation to commence training.
