General Admission Requirements

The minimum entry requirements for admission into Cross River University of Technology are O/L SSC/GCE/NECO Credit level passes in five (5) subjects, including English Language, Mathematics and one relevant Science subject selected from the following group (Biology, Health/General Science, Agricultural Science, Physics and Chemistry), obtained at not more than two sittings. Candidates are also to note that there are other requirements that may be specific to a Faculty and /or a Programme.

Candidates applying to Cross River University of Technology are expected to sit for the current JAMB Examinations and attain the prescribed cut-off marks in it. This is a statutory requirement for entry into Nigerian Universities.

CRUTECH admission requirements through UTME

To gain admission into the Cross River University of Technology in 2021, UTME candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
• Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects related to their course of study. For instance, a Candidate that wants to study law must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics and Literature in English.
• Candidates must score at least 160 in JAMB UTME examination
• Candidates must take CRUTECH post UTME screening examination and must perform very well in the examination (Depending on the course of study)
• Not more than ONE sitting results is accepted for admission into the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH)
• Candidates must choose the correct subject combination for their courses.
• Finally, candidates must meet the stipulated cutoff marks for their courses to gain admission into the university.

CRUTECH admission requirements through Direct Entry

Candidates who wish to gain admission through direct entry into the Cross River University of Technology (CRUTECH) must meet the following requirements:

• Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
• Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
• Candidates are expected to get JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.
• Candidates should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN

Admission Requirements (Faculty of Science)

In addition to the general entry requirements approved for admission into Nigerian universities, candidates must have passed the SSCE/GCE ordinary level or its equivalent with at least credit pass in five subjects to meet the requirements for admission.
1. UTME ADMISSIONS
Candidates for UTME admission must have;

• An acceptable score in UTME
• Five credit passes at SSCE, NECO, GCE O’ Level or equivalent and this should include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.

2. DIRECT ENTRY ADMISSIONS
In addition to possessing 5 credit passes for UTME as stated above, candidates for direct entry admission must have;

• Passes in Biology and Chemistry at GCE A ‘Level, IJMB or equivalent.
• Passes at credit level in ND Science Laboratory Technology. (SLT) Graduation requirements
• To qualify for Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree award in Biological Sciences (Biology or Microbiology Option), a student is expected to pass a minimum of 141 credit units with a minimum CGPA of 1.50.

Admission Requirements (Faculty of Engineering)

The Department offers a five years programme for the Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) Honors Degree in Engineering. The admission requirement for UME candidates into the course is a minimum of five (5) ordinary level credit pass in West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSSC), General Certificate of Education (GCE) or the Nigerian Examination Council Ordinary level (NECO) in not more than two sitting. The credits passes must include English language, mathematic, physics and chemistry. A pass in JAME-UME that meets the departmental cut off mark determined by the university and post-UME screening test required.
DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS. Direct entry admission is based on a combination of ‘O’ level results with the following qualifications:

• G.C.E or HSC (‘A’ level two papers in physics, mathematics or chemistry)
• OND (Upper credit)
• HND (Upper credit)

Candidates with qualification as (a) and (b) above may be admitted into 200 level and those with the qualifications as in (c) may be admitted into 300 level. All must meet the basic minimum requirement of 5 ‘O’ level credit passes in relevant subject as specified in (i) above.
