Hilda Baci, a Nigerian chef, completes her record-breaking attempt after 85 hours.

Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known by her stage name Hilda Baci, is a Nigerian chef and businesswoman who is attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the “longest cooking marathon by an individual.”

Less than 3 hours remain for the chef to create a new world record after he reached the 85-hour milestone on Monday morning.

On Thursday at precisely 4 o’clock in the afternoon, the restaurateur turned on her cooker to start the competition.

Lata Tondon, an Indian cook who achieved the feat in 2019, currently holds the Guinness World Record with her record of 87 hours and 45 minutes, which she hopes to surpass.

Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos, is hosting the event, which is being live-streamed on YouTube. Many celebrities, including Nigerians, have battled the rain to cheer up the obviously exhausted chef.

On Sunday, Baci reached the three-day mark as numerous attendees applauded.

According to the cook-a-Instagram thon’s account, @hildabacicookathon, GB Foods is the main sponsor. Arla Foods, BaigeWallet, Filmhouse, Jumbo, Uber, and Woodscope are some additional advertisers.

The Cookathon has garnered attention both online and at the physical venue where celebrities are trooping in to support the chef.

At the occasion were Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, actress Kate Henshaw, musician Tiwa Savage, media personality Enioluwa, and many more.

On Sunday, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu also went to the location to encourage Baci.

On Twitter, director Kevin Adetiba stated, “REALLY pulling for HILDA BACHI. Although I don’t know her personally, her passion, ambition, and tenacity really encourage and inspire me.

“Prayers and good energies are being sent to PUSH THROUGH. She is motivating those she doesn’t even know. HILDA, GO! You can do this.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, praised Baci for having “drive and attention.”

The attempts being made by Hilda Effiong Bassey (Hilda Baci) to surpass the existing Guinness World Record for continuously cooking for four days demonstrate the true spirit of grit and perseverance of Nigerians. I salute her resolve and singular concentration on her objective, which are motivating many young Nigerians to work hard and be committed to achieving their goals.

He tweeted on Sunday, “I wish her well on this noble quest to pen her name in the golden book of history. -PO.”

Baci has experience competing in cooking competitions; in fact, she took part in the inaugural Jollof Face-off Competition in 2021. By winning the contest and taking home the top prize of $5000, the gifted chef made Nigeria proud.
