How To Apply For 2020/2021 Free SHS Tertiary Scholarship
Consequently, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has, based on the sterling performance of the students, directed the Scholarship Secretariat to immediately open the online portal for the students to apply for scholarships for their tertiary education.
The qualified students represent about 50 per cent of the approximately 342,500 candidates who wrote the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) this year.
The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat, Mr Kingsley Agyeman, who announced this at a media engagement in Accra yesterday, said it was another opportunity for the beneficiaries of the free SHS policy to enjoy tuition free tertiary education.
Mr Agyeman pointed out that this year had been the only year in the past six years that more than 50 per cent of candidates scored between grade A1 and C6 in all core subjects.
He said considering the extreme physical and psychological conditions under which the candidates wrote their examination, the results were a clear manifestation that the government’s interventions aimed at ensuring that Ghanaian youth had access to inclusive and equitable quality SHS education, as well as attain better learning outcomes, were working.
The Ghana Scholarships Secretariat following the direction of President Akufo-Addo has officially opened the online scholarship application portal for the first batch of ‘Akufo-Addo graduates’.
President Akufo-Addo directed the Scholarships Secretariat to immediately open the online portal for these free SHS graduates to apply for scholarships for their tertiary education as soon as possible.
This scholarship scheme is for students who obtained excellent grades in the 2020 WASSCE.
Free SHS Tertiary Scholarship Eligibility
All applicants who wrote the WASSCE in 2020 and have gained admission or have applied for admission into an accredited local tertiary institution are eligible to apply.
How to Apply for Free SHS Tertiary Scholarship
All applicants are expected to go through the 4 easy steps as follows:
i. Open the web address www.scholarshipgh.com
ii. Sign up and create a user account to register
iii. Complete an application form and upload all required academic and admission documents.
iv. Complete and online aptitude test
Timelines
1st – 15th December, 2020: Application open
16th – 29th December, 2020: Nationwide Selection Interviews
By the second week of January, 2021: Validation and Payments to respective institutions.
The first batch of these Free SHS graduate who would be eligible will be able to enjoy a tuition-free tertiary education in Ghana under President Akufo-Addo.,
