KAAF University | FoE : Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering programme provides broad-based education and training in mechanical engineering sciences and their applications that will enable graduates to meet the challenges of the engineering profession in a rapidly changing environment. These challenges require the ability to apply existing knowledge in new ways thereby creating new systems and opportunities as well as adapting existing technology to local production conditions. They acquire the ability to manage service, maintain and improve upon existing as well as new systems.

Objectives

On successful completion of the programme, the graduate should be able to:
a) design, manufacture and assemble mechanical components and systems;
b) solve engineering problems by analytical and empirical methods, including computer applications;
c) install, commission, operate, maintain and service plant/machinery, tools and equipment;
d) prepare, read and present engineering drawings and reports;
e) apply relevant social science principles to manage engineering organizations and maintain cordial human relations.

Courses offered include the following;

  • Dynamics of Machinery
  • Automatic Control
  • Machine Design
  • Industrial Engineering and Ergonomics
  • Strength of Materials
  • Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing
  • Production Engineering
  • Air Conditioning and Refrigeration
  • Design of Vehicle Structures
  • Mechanisms Synthesis and Analysis
