Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor’s Office

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM VC

I warmly welcome you to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana’s foremost institution for Science and Technology education and one of the finest in Africa.
Established in 1951, the University has grown from strength to strength and from an initial handful of students, the University now has a student population of nearly 50,000 comprising undergraduate and postgraduate students from all over the world, especially, from the African continent, offering courses ranging from Art, Business, Law, Science and Technology.
Our country Ghana, despite our numerous natural resources still has remained impoverished as a result of our inability to use science and technology to our advantage. In many of the countries in Africa, the problems of poverty are massive and pervasive. In recent decades, some other countries who were once plagued with poverty as we do now have been able to develop their economies with the application of science and technology. There is, therefore, no doubt about the fact that, science and technology capabilities are fundamental for social and economic progress in the globalised economy of today.
We at KNUST recognise the fact that, the quality of a country’s human capital is critical to its development, social cohesion and global competitiveness. Therefore, the KNUST presents an environment for teaching, research and entrepreneurship training in science and technology for the industrial and socio-economic development of Ghana and the whole of the African continent and offers service to the community.
The KNUST is opened to all people and positioned to attract scholars, industrialists and entrepreneurs from Ghana, Africa and indeed, the international community. You are, therefore, warmly welcome with the typical Ghanaian hospitality to do business with us as either a student, faculty member or a partner
