BSc. MARINE ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

Competency based course to equip graduates to man fully automated and unmanned machinery spaces, electrical/electronic systems on board modern ships and on-shore. Theories and supported with dynamic demonstrations in ICT technologies.

BSc. MARINE ENGINEERING

Engineering based maritime education and training that matches modern technologies and innovations in shipboard operations on merchant ships and in fishing vessels and allied industries.

Diploma Programmes

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes for the 2018/2019 Academic Year commencing SEPTEMBER 2018.

2-YEAR DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES:

  1. DIPLOMA IN ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC ENGINEERING (REGULAR/WEEKEND)

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7/A-D) in all subjects including English Language, Mathematics and Integrated Science and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in relevant subjects (e.g. Elective Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Applied Electricity, Geography etc).

Or

  • General Certificate of Education (GCE) Holders: Applicant must have credits in at least five (5) GCE ‘O’ Level subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus at least two (2) Advanced Level passes in relevant subjects.  (e.g. Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Metal Work, Applied Electricity etc).  

Or

Other Qualifications including;

  1. International Baccalaureate (IB) with a minimum note of 10/20 in each of the relevant subjects,
  2. American Grades 12 with a Final Grade Point of at least 3.0.
  3. Combined IGCSE and Cambridge – GCE (Cambridge) – ‘A’ and ‘O’ levels must have two relevant subjects at the Cambridge ‘A’ Levels and in addition must have five (5) passes including English and Mathematics at the Cambridge ‘O’ Level.
  4. City and Guilds Technician Part II and Advanced Technician Diploma, etc. in relevant subjects which are equivalent to the SSSCE/WASSCE/NECO or the GCE will be considered.

2. DIPLOMA IN PORTS AND SHIPPING MANAGEMENT (REGULAR/WEEK-END)

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • WASSCE/SSSCE/NECO holders: Applicants must have six [6] passes (A1-D7/A-D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics and a minimum of C6 in three (3) passes in any elective subjects.

Or

  • G.C.E. ‘O’ Level Credit in five [5] subjects (including Mathematics & English Language), plus G.C.E. ‘A’ Level passes in any two (2) subjects.

Or

  • GBCE Candidates: credit passes (A-D) in five (5) subjects comprising three (3) core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus two (2) relevant elective subjects.

MATURE STUDENTS’ ENTRY ROUTE

  1. Applicants must be at least 25 years old, and would have to show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth, which is at least 5 years old at the time of application.
  2. Applicant must also pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by the University in (English Language, Mathematics and Aptitude Test).
  • Applicants intending to offer the Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering programme must have a science background.
Post Graduate Programmes

MSc. Bio-Processing Engineering

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must have a good first degree in Engineering with at least second class Lower Division from a recognized University. Applicants with a B.Sc. in the Physical Sciences will be considered if they have at least one (1) year relevant work experience. The University may consider applicants who posses a third class but with at least 2 years’ industry experience. Such applicants will be subject to an interview.
  2. Applicants must submit the following with applications:
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae
  • Certified copies of transcript and certificate
  • Personal statement of not more than 500 words (1.5 pages) detailing your motivation for wanting to study the course and what you believe you will gain from it.

MSc. Environmental Engineering

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Applicants must have a good first degree in Engineering with at least second class Lower Division from a recognized University. MA in Ports and Shipping Administration (with University of Ghana)

Eligibility Criteria:

A good First Degree with at least a Minimum of 2nd Lower Division in any of the following:

Social Sciences; Business Administration; Maritime Discipline and other related Disciplines from a recognized University, plus not less than two (2) years post-qualification working experience in Logistics or Maritime related organization.
or

The highest grade Certificate of Competency for unrestricted service as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer in the Merchant Navy.
