The CHABAHIVA Trust  is a responsible social investor. Our focus is HIV and wellness. We create a collaborative network of organisations that implement or support compassionate and holistic HIV prevention and care programmes. Our role in the network is to support, strengthen and empower their services and organisational sustainability. Therefore, we source the resources and capabilities of businesses, faith structures, their funders and donor organisational partnerships. As a Fund Manager, we ensure outputs will result in the effective and compassionate implementation of programmes with impact.
 

Job Title: Trustee’s to serve on their Board 
Location: South Africa

The purpose of the positions is to fill 4 positions. Potential Trustees will be chosen in line with the Trusts’ diversity requirements which include gender, ethnicity, and background.  Additionally, individuals with an understanding in HIV, TB, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Public and/or community health programming are encouraged to apply. Persons living with HIV and Medical professionals are specifically invited to express their interest.

Requirements:

Previous experience working with an NPO Board in the sector, bonus: experience with HIV/AIDS challenges

Experience required in at least one of the areas listed below:

  • Fundraising (e.g. from individuals, businesses, corporate or other)
  • Financial management
  • Marketing, Communications, PR, or Media
  • Human Resources, Organisational Development
  • Governance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Risk Management
  • Understand the Health sector landscape in South Africa, or related experience, working in vulnerable communities
  • Motivated by compassion and a desire to positively contribute towards the development sector

  • Ability to operate as a team

General Responsibilities

  • Willingness to fulfil the fiduciary duties and uphold ethical standards of conduct as required of a Trustee of a registered Charitable Trust
  • Willingness to act as an ambassador for CHABAHIVA Trust
  • Willingness to provide and guide the strategic direction of the Trust
  • Availability to attend quarterly meetings (4-5 hours per meeting), and or networking events that will relate to fundraising initiatives
  • Responsive to emails and other communication

Expectations of Trustees:

  • Attend four Trustee meetings a year
  • Participate in the organisation’s strategic review and planning sessions (once every two years)
  • Assist in fundraising for the Trust
  • Participate in sub-committees and guide the Trust (as required)
  • Be committed to the Trust and be able to give a reasonable amount of time and attention to the Trust
