The Silo Hotel has been built in the grain elevator portion of the historic grain silo complex occupying six floors above Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa (MOCAA) which houses Africa’s largest collection of contemporary African art. The exterior of the building was designed by Heatherwick Studio. From the outside, the greatest visible change to the building’s original structure is the addition of the ingenious glass windows inserted into the geometry of the hotel floors. These multi-faceted structures glisten like diamonds during the day while at night the building transforms into a glowing beacon in the Table Bay harbour.

The Silo Hotel Rooms & Suites
The Silo Hotel has 28 rooms, including a spectacular one bedroom penthouse. Each room has been individually designed and decorated by the stylish wand of Liz Biden. Colourful and eclectic pieces juxtapose the modern, industrial architecture. The 6 room categories are based on the room size and the views. Each room has a private balcony and a unique collection of contemporary African art. The images below are indicative of the category only. We cannot guarantee a particular room (other than the penthouse), only the room category.
The Silo Hotel also offers a number of Private Residences situated nearby along the Atlantic Seaboard.
SILO ROOM
Each of our entry level rooms adopts a unique and exciting colour scheme and collection of contemporary African art. Each room has a private balcony and a large en-suite bathroom.
DELUXE SUPERIOR
The Deluxe Superior Suites are situated across the 8th, 9th and 10th floors with spectacular 5.5m (18ft) high pillowed glass windows showcasing the natural wonder of Cape Town. They range in size from 60m2 (646ft²) to 67m2 (721ft²) including a balcony and sitting area.
FAMILY DUPLEX SUITE
The two-bedroom Family Duplex Suites are situated on the 7th floor with views over the old harbour and out to the distant mountains or over the V&A Waterfront and Signal Hill. Family Suites range from 111m2 (1195ft²) to 128m2 (1378ft²) including a balcony. They are on two levels and have two bedrooms upstairs, one of which is a smaller kids’ bedroom.
ROYAL SUITE
The two-bedroom, triple aspect Royal Suites face the Atlantic Ocean, Robben Island and the distant mountains. Each Royal Suite is 132m2 (1421ft²) in size and each has two bedrooms, a large living and dining area and a generous balcony.
THE PENTHOUSE
The one-bedroom penthouse is the jewel in The Royal Portfolio’s crown located on the top floor of The Silo Hotel facing Table Mountain with triple aspect views of Cape Town. There is a cinema room and a spa treatment room and the main bedroom has two walk in wardrobes and two marble bathrooms.
Includes two 24m2 (258ft²) private balconies and can be converted into a two-bedroom penthouse.

Breakfast in The Granary Café is currently open for resident hotel guests only.
Fresh coffee, cold-pressed juices and warm croissants are the order of the morning in the Granary Café. Guests can look forward to their own ‘Harvest Table’ and a tempting selection of warm and cold breakfasts from the à la carte menu found below.

SUNDAY BRUNCH | R325 per person
Resident and non-resident guests are welcome every Sunday from 11:30am until 2pm for our lazy brunch which includes a welcome drink, live entertainment from local artist Stuart Reece, an étagère of savoury snacks followed by an à la carte main menu and a few sweet treats courtesy of our resident pâtissier.
ALL DAY DRINKS AND DINING ON THE SIXTH FLOOR

With uninterrupted views through its 5.5m high pillowed-glass windows, the sixth floor at The Silo Hotel is the perfect space in which to relax and take in the natural beauty of Cape Town.
Unwind and enjoy a carefully crafted cocktail or a glass of wine from the magnificent and ever-evolving list of local and international wines from The Willaston Bar.
DINNER IN THE GRANARY CAFÉ
The Granary Café is open for resident hotel guests and non-resident guests by prior reservation only. For non-resident guests a deposit of R250 per person is required to secure the dinner booking. The deposit will be deducted from the final bill.
DINNER IS SERVED FROM 6 PM TO 10 PM | WEDNESDAY – SATURDAY
Dining in The Granary Café is a unique experience. The menu inherits the same comfortable, eclectic and contemporary style as Liz Biden’s hotel interiors. Executive Chef Veronica Canha-Hibbert and her team believe in good, honest and approachable food that showcases seasonal, local ingredients.
THE SILO ROOFTOP
The Silo Rooftop is open for resident hotel guests and non-resident guests by prior reservation only. For non-resident guests a deposit of R100 per person is required to secure the booking on The Silo Rooftop. The deposit will be deducted from the final bill.
The Silo Rooftop offers guests a relaxed, al fresco experience with spectacular panoramic views of Cape Town from the tallest building in the V&A Waterfront. Guests can look forward to sharing platters, man’oushe (baked flatbread) topped with fresh ingredients, salads and poké bowls. Enjoy a glass of bubbly, fine South African wines or a classic cocktail while you soak up the last of the day’s sunshine.
ROYAL TEA
The Royal Tea is a selection of petit gateaux and exquisite teatime treats including several savoury delights.
Served Thursday – Sunday from 2:30PM to 5PM on the 6th floor with a last seating at 3:30pm. The cost of the Royal Tea is R325 per person. Bookings for up to 6 people can be made using the Dineplan booking button below.

PRIVATE DINING AT THE SILO HOTEL
The Silo Hotel brings a new dimension to dining in the city with our exclusive, glass-fronted private dining rooms. The Wisdom Room is a wonderful private dining room for up to 22 guests. The Wisdom Room was named after the last ship to ever take grain to Europe from the grain silo – MV Anangel Wisdom – in 1995.

THE SILO SPA
The Silo Spa, located on the fourth floor of The Silo Hotel, has five treatment rooms, two of which can be made into a couple’s room. The Silo Spa is a tranquil space in which guests can relax and indulge in the latest therapies and spa techniques. There’s also a gym, sauna and a dedicated manicure and pedicure area.
