Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo) is one of four Constituent Colleges of Tumaini University Makumira (TUMA). The other three are Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, Stefano Moshi Memorial University College and the Josiah Kibira University College. In addition TUMA has one Teaching Centre, the Mbeya TUMA Teaching Centre. TUDARCo was awarded its Letter of Interim Authority on 1st July 2004 and its Certificate of Provisional Registration on July 14th 2005. Certificate of Full Registration was granted in 2007. TUDARCo was awarded its Charter on 20^th August, 2013 by HE The President of the United Republic of Tanzania. TUDARCo is owned by the Lutheran church, however, recruitment of staff and admission of students is irrespective of their faith.

TUDARCo joined the Tumaini University family on 1st April, 2003 having existed since 1997 as Waldorf College Tanzania. It has since grown from 249 students during 2004/2005 academic year to over 2,300 students during 2013/2014 academic year. These students were initially enrolled in three degree programmes, namely – the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Service (BALIS) and the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). The range of degree Programmes has grown from three to seven and now includes the Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (BMC), Bachelor of Arts in Information Management (BIM), Bachelor of Human Resources Management (BHRM) and Bachelor of Arts with Education (BAED). In addition, the College offers two Diploma Programmes, namely Diploma in Business Administration and Management (DBAM), Diploma in Law (DL), Diploma Intercultural Relations (DIR), Diploma in Business Administration and Management (DBAM), Diploma in Christian Ministry (DCM), and four Certificate Programmes which are Certificate in Law (CL), Certificate in Accounting and Business Administration (CABA), Certificate in Christian Ministry (CCM) and Certificate in Records Management (CRM). The first batch of students graduated in 2004 and since then graduations have been held each year.

Undergraduate Admissions

Tumaini University Dar es salaam College (TUDARCo) currently offers the following Undergraduate Programmes with the admission entry qualifications; Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Bachelor of Human Resources Management (BHRM), Bachelor of Arts wit Education (BAEd), Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication (BMC), Bachelor of Arts in Library and Information Studies (BALIS), Bachelor of Information Management (BIM) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) majoring in Accounting and Marketing.  

A. DEGREE PROGRAMMES GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completed A-Level studies before 2014

Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B = 4;C= 3; D = 2; E = 1).

2. Completed A-Levelstudies in 2014 and 2015

Two principal passes (Two Cs) with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B+= 4; B = 3; C= 2; D = 1).

3. Completed A –Level studies from 2016

Two principal passes with a total of 4.0 points from Two Subjects defining the admission into the respective programme (where A = 5; B = 4;C= 3; D = 2; E = 1).

4. Recognition of Prior Learning qualification

B+ Grade: where A =75-100, B+ = 65-74, B=50-64,C =40-49, D = 35-39, F = 0-38.

5. Equivalent applicants

At least four O’-Level passes (Ds and above) or NVA Level III with less than four O’-Level passes or equivalent foreign qualifications as established by either NECTA or VETA; AND

i) At least a GPA of 3.0 for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6); OR

ii) Average of B for Full Technician Certificate (FTC) (where A=5, B=4, C=3,and D=2 points); OR

iii) Average of ‘B+’ Grade for Diploma in Teacher Education; OR

iv) Average of ‘B+’ Grade for Health related awards such as Clinical Medicine and others; OR

v) A Distinction for unclassified diplomas and certificates.

vi) Upper Second Class for classified non-NTA diplomas.

B: PROGRAMME SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

In addition to meeting the general admission requirements, applicants may be required to meet programme specific requirements as follows:

• For BA, (Mass Com), BA (LIS) and LLB programmes, one must have a pass in English at O Level or at  least a Subsidiary pass in English at A Level.
• For BBA, one must have a pass in Mathematics at O Level or a subsidiary at A Level or at least a D grade in Maths or Statistics or Quantitative Methods in their Diplomas.

Postgraduate Admissions

Tumaini University Dar es salaam College (TUDARCo) currently offers the following Post Graduate Programmes with their respective entry requirements/ qualifications:  1. MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) .Candidates who are eligible for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree must have the following:At least a GPA of 2.7 or above at a Bachelor degree or an equivalent from any recognized University,A Postgraduate Diploma with at least a GPA of 4.0Candidates who hold an unclassified degree (e.g., Medical Degree (M.D).) should have at least a B grade average in the subject of specialization,A candidate holding a degree whose classification is not easily distinguishable by the University shall be required to have his or her qualifications clarified by the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) BEFORE being considered for an admission.  2.  MASTER OF ARTS IN INFORMATION STUDIES (MAIS). Candidates who are eligible for admission to the Master of Information Studies (MAIS) Degree must have the following: Direct Entry Requirements An undergraduate degree in Library and Information Studies, Records and Archives Management, ICT, Information Management, Information Systems Management, Mass Communication, Education programme and other related degree programme from recognized institution certified by TCU with at least a lower second class award (GPA of at least 2.7 out of 5). Equivalent Entry Requirements Postgraduate Diploma in a corresponding and relevant field of Library and Information Studies, Records and Archives Management, Education, Mass Communication, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) from any other higher learning institution certified by TCU (with at least a B+ of 4.0).

Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College Application Procedure

TUDARCo enrols students without regard to creed, race, religious or political orientation. It enrols both mature and employed applicants as well as fresh from school A level graduates, provided they qualify for the programme for which they have applied.

Possession of Identity Card (ID)
The possession of an ID is a prerequisite for benefiting from various college services and participating in academic as well as administrative tasks. Students shall     carry at all times, while on TUDARCo premises.

The ID shall be demanded for the following:-

1. Entering and using the library as well as borrowing books and accessing special reserve.
2. Entering the computer room and using the computers.
3. Entering an examination room and sitting for any University Examination administered and conducted by the College.
4. Campus identification, especially by the College guards.

Language Requirement

Normal In Tanzania Higher Education system the instruction language will be English rare Swahili will be used, in order to be able to communicate with locals, you may need to learn Swahili language, TUDARCo does not conduct Swahili courses but there are many local institutions that offer Swahili courses for foreignes.

Registration Procedures

Besides the above, a prospective student must  apply  through Online Student Registration System available at  http://osim.tudarco.ac.tz/  website.

Furnishing a Medical examination form on the fitness of the candidate to pursue University programmes.

Submission of proof of sufficient funds for the completion of the programme.
