WIUC BA Rural Development & Ecotourism

The Bachelor of Arts in Rural Development & Ecotourism programme prepares students for careers in the Development and Ecotourism sectors.
Students taking the course will gain a wide range of knowledge and skills in sustainable development and fair and equitable distribution of natural resources, tourism development and conservation of natural ecosystems.
Students will also learn how to conduct feasibility assessments of development and ecotourism programmes in order to develop and implement successful projects and provide solutions for challenges confronting developing countries.
The programme prepares students for further specialisation in Development, Hospitality or Conservation.
Teaching methods: A variety of methods of instruction are used, including lectures and discussion, case studies and small group work. Assessment is through assignments, projects and exams.

Accreditation/Affiliation: The BA Rural Development and Ecotourism programme is affiliated to the University of Cape Coast. All degree courses are accredited by Ghana’s National Accreditation Board (NAB).
Entry requirements:
1) WASSCE & SSSCE
Candidates must have six credits (A1-C6) in English, Mathematics and Integrated Science (Biology or Agricultural Science for Nigerian applicants) or Social Studies, and three elective subjects, including Geography, Economics, Government or Religious Studies, making an aggregate of no more than 36. For SSSCE, candidates must have six credits (A-D) in the three Core Subjects and three electives, making an aggregate of no more than 24.
Candidates with less than five credits may be enrolled into a Certificate programme. Such candidates would have to improve their WASSCE results to qualify for admission into a Degree programme.
2) Mature Students
Candidates must be at least 25 years old and must write and pass an entrance examination in English, Mathematics, IT and General Business. They may also be required to attend an interview.
3) Others
Applicants with GCE, ICGSE, GBCE, ABCE, Baccalaureate, Professional Courses (ICA, ACCA, CIM etc) and HND, among others, may contact us for levels of placement.
