When is the Online Registration for Matric Rewrite 2023 Starting ?Candidates who registered to write this year’s matric supplementary examinations but either missed, failed a subject, or want to improve their marks, have another chance to improve their results. According to the Department of Basic Education (DBE), National Senior Certificate (NSC) candidates can now Register to rewrite your Matric before the 08 February 2023

The May/June examination is a special examination offered to adult candidates that have not attained a matric qualification and those that wrote the previous November exams but may not have met the requirements for a pass or passed but wish to improve their results.

Meanwhile, those who wrote the Senior Certificate (SC) June 2023 exams can only register for the June 2023 SC assessments.

The Second Chance Matric Programme of the Department of Basic Education provides support to learners who want to rewrite subjects. It helps them to meet the requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC) and obtain a Grade 12 matric certificate.

Face to face classes are available at locations around the country, as well as online programmes and television and radio broadcasts.

What are the requirements for matric rewrite?

In order to apply for a matric rewrite, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be 21 when writing your exams.
  • You must be able to read and write in EITHER English or Afrikaans.
  • You must have completed your matric exams already.

Can I rewrite my matric after 10 years?

You can apply to rewrite your matric year again, though you would have to wait slightly longer to achieve your academic goals. There are also Adult Matric and Matric Upgrade option for people who do not succeed in the second chance exams.

Is it too late to register for matric rewrite?

Older than 21? It’s not too late. You can never be too old to get your matric certificate, and you can get it in the comfort of your home through distance learning. Adults who qualify to write the Amended National Senior Certificate exams can apply from October until January.

How much does it cost to rewrite matric?

A Matric Rewrite gives you the chance to rewrite your matric exams. This could be because you did not do well enough to pass, or you just want to improve your marks to get into the course of your choosing.
