SATS Admission Points Score For 2022/2023

To calculate your South African Theological Seminary  APS, you will need to add your six best subject percentages.  Please note that this excludes Life Orientation.

Applicants will need to meet the minimum APS in order to be considered for a specific programme.  Generally, you get points for each matric subject you write an exam in.  The points you get for each course will depend on the percentage you score in that particular subject.

The APS is the total points you receive from each course. Results below 40% for any subject will not be counted in the APS.

South African Theological Seminary Entry Requirement

All applicants starting a new qualification must upload all the required documents, which generally consists of the following:

  • Copy of your school qualifications (eg Senior Certificate)
  • Copy of your official tertiary academic record(s) (if applicable) (internet copies will not be accepted)
  • Copy of your ID document (RSA students) or ID / passport (international students)
  • Copy of your marriage certificate (if applicable) or divorce decree (if applicable)
  • Sworn translations of documents if they are not in English or Afrikaans

Before applying applicants must meet up with the South African Theological Seminary Admission Requirements listed below.

Higher Certificate Course – Matric Certificate Diploma or Higher Certificate Pass

Undergraduate Degree – Matric Bachelor’s Degree Pass/ Exemption

FIRST YEAR: Just Starting Out

The minimum requirement to enter an South African Theological Seminary Bachelors degree is a National Senior Certificate (matric) or National Certificate (Vocational) with exemption/admission to bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.

OR the student may write an Entrance Exam at South African Theological Seminary  (View RPL Process). The  South African Theological Seminary  Entrance Exam is a selection process approved by South African Theological Seminary  Senate for degree access. To give a candidate alternative access to degree, s/he can sit for the Entrance Exam and there must be record of it, the recommendation on the individual student from the registered psychometrist must be signed off by Senate or its subcommittee, as per South African Theological Seminary  Entrance Exam policy (in accordance with Higher Education Act (Act 101 of 1997) Amendment No 1317 in Government Gazette of 5 Dec 2008 number 31674 clause 31). Such access will apply only to  South African Theological Seminary   ’s programmes, its entrance exam is not valid to another university, and vice versa.

SECOND YEAR: Recognised Prior Learning

You need to have completed your first year degree studies at a recognised institution and have a portfolio or evidence of work to motivate your discipline choices. You will also have to have an interview.
