The National Senior Certificate (NSC) Examination Number is a special number given to each student who takes the NSC exam in South Africa. This number, which is displayed on the student’s statement of results, is used to identify the exam scripts for each student.

The NSC Examination Number consists of the year of the examination, followed by a 7-digit number. For example, if a student wrote the NSC exam in 2021, their examination number would start with “2021” followed by a 7-digit number.

How To Get Nsc Examination Number

The National Senior Certificate Examination Number is issued to students by the Department of Basic Education in South Africa. Typically, students receive their examination numbers from their schools a few weeks before the start of the NSC exams.

If you are a student who will be writing the NSC exams, you should contact your school to obtain your examination number. Your school will have the necessary information and will be able to provide you with your unique NSC Examination Number.

How many credits is the NSC?

In some nations, a high school diploma or secondary school leaving certificate is equivalent to the National Senior Certificate (NSC), a qualification that is recognized in South Africa. Students must complete a minimum of seven subjects, including two official languages (one at the level of their home language and one at the level of their first additional language), and earn a minimum grade point average of 40% in three subjects, including home language, and a minimum grade point average of 30% in three other subjects to receive the NSC.

Each subject is assigned a credit value based on the number of notional hours required for teaching and learning. The credit value for each subject is determined by the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi). The credit value for each subject ranges from 2 to 8 credits, depending on the complexity of the subject and the number of notional hours required for teaching and learning.

A student may earn up to 172 credits in total for the NSC, with 120 credits being the minimum needed to be qualified. However, depending on the specific combination of subjects a student chooses, the credit requirements may change slightly.
