UMaT 2020 / 2021 Courses For All Postgraduate Applicants

MSc / MPhil in Geomatic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Geomatic or Geodetic Engineering or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences who hold senior positions in a relevant industry and have at least 5 years professional experience and proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply for admission.

MSc / MPhil in Geological Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Earth Sciences and related Engineering programmes from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of the UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences who hold senior positions in a relevant industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply for admission.

MSc / MPhil in Mining Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mining Engineering, relevant Engineering or Earth Sciences from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences who have at least 5 years professional experience and with proven ability in their respective disciplines are eligible to apply for admission.

MSc / MPhil in Minerals Engineering

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Applied Sciences and related engineering programmes from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in the Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply for admission.

MSc/MPhil in Petroleum Engineering

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Petroleum Engineering or related engineering degrees from a recognised University.
  2. All other applicants who do not satisfy the requirements of (i) above but have petroleum related degrees from a recognised University may be eligible after careful consideration of the background and relevant documents
  3. All applicants who do not have Petroleum Engineering will, upon admission, be required to take and pass three (3) non-scoring introductory modules as a prerequisite for the main Petroleum Engineering modules.

MSc/MPhil in Mechanical Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering and relevant Engineering programme from a recognised university.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering programmes who hold senior positions in a relevant industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible to apply for admission.

MSc/MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  1. Applicants must have BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper Division) or its equivalent in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering or in related Engineering disciplines from a recognised University.
  2. Holders of UMaT Diploma in Mine Electrical Engineering who hold senior positions in a relevant industry and have at least 5 years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines are eligible for admission.

MSc/MPhil in Mathematics (with Specialisation in Computational Mathematics/Statistics/Financial Engineering).

  1. Applicants must have BSc First class or Second class (Upper Division) in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Engineering and Physical Sciences from a recognised University.
  2. Applicants who do not satisfy (i) above but have degrees in Mathematics, Statistics with Economics, any Engineering field or other related physical sciences and are adjudged suitable by the departmental board may be interviewed.

Master of Business and Technology Management (with specialisation in Finance and Investments / Supply Chain Management / Management Information Systems)

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper/Lower Division) or its equivalent in Business, Social and Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
  2. Applicants with UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines.
  3. All candidates shall pass an interview before admission. This is a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) programme.

MSc Engineering Management

  1. A BSc First Class or Second Class (Upper/Lower Division) or its equivalent in Business, Social and Physical Sciences, Technology and Engineering related programmes.
  2. Applicants with UMaT Diploma in Earth Sciences, who have at least five (5) years professional experience with proven ability in their disciplines.
  3. All candidates shall pass an interview before admission. This is a weekend (Saturday and Sunday) programme.

PhD PROGRAMME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

PhD in Geomatic Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.

PhD in Geological Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.

PhD in Mining Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.

PhD in Minerals Engineering

  1. A candidate shall hold a Master’s degree or its equivalent, from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.

PhD in Mathematics

  1. A candidate shall hold a master’s degree in Mathematics (with specialisation in Statistics, Computational and Finanacial Engineering) or its equivalent from a recognised institution and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the proposed programme.
  2. A candidate, who does not satisfy the requirements stated above but is otherwise adjudged suitable, may be admitted.
