University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa Degrees Courses

The Faculty of Mineral Resources Technology was established in October 2001 when the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) School of Mines, Tarkwa was elevated to the status of a University College to train high-level personnel in Mining and allied engineering disciplines.
The Departments under the Faculty have, however, been in existence since 1982 when the University Council of KNUST approved a recommendation to restructure the then Institute of Mining and Mineral Engineering into a Faculty of KNUST.
The faculty consists of six (6) Academic Departments which offer the four-year BSc programmes in:

  1. Geomatic Engineering
  2. Geological Engineering
  3. Mining Engineering
  4. Mineral Engineering and
  5. Petroleum Engineering
  6. Environmental and Safety Engineering
