 Admission Requirements
MSc Land Policy and Governance is open to Land Economists, Estate Managers, Planners, Land Surveyors, Geomantic Engineers, Town and Country Planners and related Social Scientists.

  • Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree (at least Second Class) in a Land Economy, Planning, Geomatic/Geodetic Engineering, Geography, Economics, Sociology, Agriculture, Environmental Studies, Natural Resources Management and other related degrees from institutions of recognised standing.
  • Candidates must attend an interview session and pass  before admission

PhD Land Economy/Land Management

  • Candidates must hold an MPhil/MSc in Land Economy, Real Estate or a Master’s degree in a relevant subject from a recognised University acceptable to the Departmental Board.
  • Candidates must attend an interview session and pass before admission.
  • Candidates must submit a sustainable proposal and workable programme that fit into the land industry and acceptable to the Departmental Board.

MPhil Land Management Studies

  • The programme is open to all applicants but specifically targeted towards Managers for Real Estate Companies; Lands Commission Staff; Director of Works and Engineers, Directors of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development; Staff of Town and Country Planning Department; Forestry Commission Staff; District and Land Valuation Officers; Surveyors, Land Surveyors and NGOs.

 Admission Requirements

  • Candidates must possess a good degree (a minimum of Second Class Lower) in Land Economy and related subjects from an approved University. Admissions shall be made in accordance with existing University regulations. Priority will be given to candidates with some work experience. Graduates in allied professions, such as planning, geography, development policy, law and the social sciences operating in the areas of land management (for which they have received little or no training) qualify to apply. The programme is geared towards equipping such graduates with the requisite training.
  • The programme is particularly expected to equip students with the tools to operate in land management; provide the basis for students who may want to pursue their studies to a more advanced level (e.g. the doctoral level) to enable them pursue vocations in the universities and research institutions, to achieve their objective.

The programme is for a period of two years and run at weekends (Saturday and Sunday). The programme is organized in modules with the first year being for course work including eight (8) weeks internship.
