University for Development Studies School of Engineering

Introduction
The School of Engineering (SoE) was created in September 2015 with the mandate to train students in various engineering disciplines. It is located on the Nyankpala Campus (about 20 km West of Tamale) of the University. Unlike others which metamorphosed from Faculties/Schools, the School of Engineering started just like the University itself without a mentor.
The School of Engineering has a vision “to be a center of excellence for the development of independent minded professionals with innovative skills in all disciplines of engineering by advancing knowledge in science, technology and engineering aimed at national development”. Challenged with the effect of the ban on employment in the public sector, the School of Engineering is still well positioned to provide quality and advanced teaching, research and extension services.
To ensure that training standards are met and maintained for the needs of the sector, a nine (9) member Governing Board of the School of Engineering from industry, professional institutions, etc has be developed.
The School of Engineering has developed Bachelor of Science programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Waste Management Engineering. Other programmes being developed at the undergraduate and graduate level for training the needed manpower for developmental needs.
