GTUC Announces 2020-21 Academic Year Re-Opening Date

GTUC Announces 2020-21 Academic Year Re-Opening Date ; The Ghana Technology University College has resolved to commence activities for the 2020/2021 academic year from Monday, September 28, 2020 for all continuing students.

Teaching and learning will begin Monday, October 5, 2020 for diploma and degree programs for only continuing students.

Although the College is yet to come clear on the mode of teaching and learning, it indicated that freshmen will begin their academic year in January 2021.

The coronavirus pandemic has forced many tertiary institutions to hold on with commencing academic activities for the 2020/2021 academic year.

That notwithstanding, some tertiary institutions have announced their readiness to commence the 2020/2021 academic year.

The Ashesi University and Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ) have indicated that their academic activities will be held online.

They explained that the decision is based on their understanding of information around the COVID-19.

The Universities however added that key factors that influenced the decision to continue the semester online included the “risk of exposure from various community members commuting to and from campus, complexities of rigorous testing on campus, and closure of Ghana’s borders to international students.”

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has also hinted at starting the next academic year online.

Meanwhile, the Accra Technical University has also planned to reopen in October for the 2020/2021 academic year.
