Overview Of United Nations

Uganda became a member of the United Nations on 25 October 1962. For the past five decades the United Nations through its various agencies, programmes, funds and entities has worked in partnership with and supported the Government of Uganda towards achieving its development goals. Over the past decades the UN has provided technical support, capacity building and assistance to address a wide range of development and humanitarian challenges in health, education, protection, human rights and gender among others. Notable positive outcomes achieved in partnership with the Government of Uganda include improved infant and child survival and development through immunisation and related programmes, progress in combating HIV/AIDS through a multifaceted approach, improvement in literacy levels and improvement in livelihoods in most parts of the country.

What is Internship and how does it work?
An internship is an official program offered by an employer to potential employees. Internships are most popular with undergraduates or graduate students who work between one to four months and have a goal to gain practical work or research related experience. 2021 United Nations Learnerships Opportunities

What is Learnership and how does it work?
A learnership is a work based learning programme that leads to an NQF registered qualification. Learnerships are directly related to an occupation or field of work, for example, electrical engineering, hairdressing or project management.
What are the benefits for learners?
You may have better employment opportunities after completing a learnership;
You have a fixed-term employment contract for the duration of the learnership;
Learnerships improve on the job performance so you are able to do things relevant to the job;
You obtain a nationally-recognised qualification that is relevant to the sector; and
You earn a learner allowance for the duration of the learnership.

2021 United Nations Scholarships Opportunities

What is a Scholarship and how does it work?
A Scholarship is a monetary award made by an institution to individuals or groups of people who cannot afford to pay full fees. Also Scholarships may be awarded in addition to scholarships where financial need is demonstrated and the prospective student would otherwise be unable to enter the school. 2021 United Nations Traineeship Opportunities

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 6 months.

You can apply if you’re:

  • eligible to work in Uganda
  • unemployed and have little or no work experience
  • aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 3
